Great for shooting on the move
Active I.S. + Advanced E.I.S.
Experience seamless video with Active I.S. – it tracks camera movements for gimbal-like smoothness. Plus, our innovative E.I.S. (electronic) image stabilisation eliminates lens-induced warping, taking stability to a new level.
A higher grade of visual expression
Versatile recording modes
The LUMIX G9II also offers a full range of high-resolution, recording modes to preserve image quality through post-production:
・ 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p
・ 4:2:0 10-bit 5.7K(17:9) 60p/50p
・ 4:2:0 10-bit 5.8K(4:3) 30p/25p
Direct recording to USB-SSD
With the LUMIX G9II, recording and playback is supported using an external SSD via USB. In addition, the ability to record ProRes 422 HQ (maximum 1.9Gbps) and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra directly to SSDs, which combine portability and high capacity has improved efficiency in data backup and post-processing.
・An AC Adaptor DMW-AC10 (optional) and DC Coupler DMW-DCC17 (optional) are required to record HFR/S&Q video of 61fps or higher on a USB-SSD. ・It is not possible to record video and photo on the SD card simultaneously while recording it on the external SSD. ・Use an external SSD no more than 2 TB in size that is compatible with USB Type-C. We recommend using an external SSD whose operation has been confirmed by Panasonic. Note beforehand that this is not a guarantee of operation on all devices. ・Latest information on the external SSDs will be available at the following support site: https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/index.html
All-Intra video
The ALL-Intra compression method, which allows frame-by-frame decoding/encoding, is ideal for non-linear editing. The LUMIX G9II can record at bit rates of up to C4K/4K 800Mpbs.
*Onboard recording at bit rates of up to 800Mpbs is possible, while recording at bit rates above 800Mbps can be done to an external SSD via USB cable.
ProRes codec video
You can record ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 codec videos, the professional industry standard, which deliver high image quality at low compression. This significantly reduces the load on the computer during post-production and allows non-linear editing without transcoding, streamlining your workflow from start to finish.
The LUMIX G9II can record FHD (1920x1080) internally, and 5.7K (5728x3024, 17:9) and C4K (4096x2160, 17:9) to an external SSD via USB

13+ stops of V-Log and V-Gamut "VariCam Look"
Offering compatibility with Cinema VariCam Look, 13+ stops* of dynamic range, and a very wide colour spectrum, V-Log and V-Gamut come preinstalled. Users will enjoy impressively accurate colour reproduction, subtle gradations from dark areas to highlights, and precise control of colour data in post-production. The end result is more creative and satisfying colour expression. Moreover, footage shot with the LUMIX G9II can be seamlessly edited with footage shot with VariCam cameras.
*When shooting video/slow & quick shooting at a setting of over 61 fps, the dynamic range provides 12+ stops.

Versatility
Frame Marker
The frame marker is useful when vertical/horizontal cropping in post production is anticipated. Dive into cinematic realms with 2.39:1 and 2.35:1 options, or conquer social media with 1:1 and 9:16 formats. Choose from 10 most common patterns, and shape your narrative with style.
Vertical video shooting
The camera detects the vertical orientation of video, so the image will rotate automatically when you play it back on your smartphone or other device. This can be turned ON or OFF.
4ch audio recording
The LUMIX G9II delivers much improved audio recording performance, with 4ch 48kHz or 96kHz 24-bit recording possible* when an XLR microphone adaptor DMW-XLR1 (sold separately) is attached. This LUMIX G9II gives you much greater flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example, where multiple audio sources are present, or when recording backup audio. Now also supports 2ch 48kHz 24-bit recording with the built-in mic and 2ch 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording* with an external mic (sold separately).
*MOV and ProRes only.
